The inspiration behind Safira Griplight stems from the designers' intention to solve the issue of messy accessories on the handlebar for modern cyclists. The integration of a front lamp and direction indicator into the grip design brilliantly reduces the number of accessories on the handlebar, providing a cleaner and more streamlined look.
What sets Safira apart from other designs is its unique use of the hollow handlebar space as a battery cabin, maximizing the capacity of electricity. The combination of the grip, bike light, direction indicator, and handlebar battery cabin makes Safira the most compact and powerful bike illumination system available today.
The Safira Griplight is made from PC (light body), silicon (grip), and aluminum (C ring). The technical specifications of the design are as follows: W:203mm xL: 72mm xH: 75mm, Output 400lm, and it holds a Germany K-mark Bikelight certification.
The design process for Safira began in April 2015 in HsinChu, Taiwan and was completed in February 2016. The designers faced challenges in blending the high lumen front lamp and direction indicator into the handlebar grip without causing abrupt form collapse. Designing a mechanism that transfers electric from the handlebar to the headlamp was also a tricky task.
Their efforts were not in vain, as Safira Griplight was awarded the Golden in A' Product Engineering and Technical Design Award in 2016. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
